Objective and Methods:To assess the effects of 0.7, 1.4mM sevoflurane on 5-hydroxytryptamine3 receptors (5HT3R)-mediated current induced by bath application of 30μM 2-methy1-5-hydroxytryptamine, a selective 5-HT3R atagonist in rat nodose ganglia neurones maintained in primary culture and in comparison with those of both halothane and isoflurane. The whole-cell patch clamp recordings was applied. Results: The peak amplitude of transient inward current evoked by 30μM 2-methyl-5-hydroxytryptamine decreased to 77±12 % aand 64±9 % by 0.7 and 1.4mM sevoflurane respectively. In contrast, both halothane and isoflurane enhanced the transient inward current.
