IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) realizes the end-to-end IP multimedia communications and is independent of access technologies and has far-ranging adaptability to all kinds of access. IMS is confirmed to be the core architecture of NGN. This paper proposes an IMS-based IPTV architecture that enables various multimedia services including IPTV service based on IMS over NGN. The architecture is based on IMS core modules, and the application server is composed of stand-alone SIP modules.
