It is assumed that only the customer at the head of the queue has priority access to the server. For an arbitrarily distributed retrial time distribution, the necessary and sufficient condition for the stable sys tem is obtained. By using the supplemental variable method and the state transfer analysis, the steady-state distribu tions of the number of customers in the system and the queue are obtained along with other performance measures.
