A multiobjective dynamic programming model is developed for solving the multiobjective problem to maximize power generation and in the same time to alleviate sediment deposition in reservoir operation. A three-stage iterative algorithm for the solution of the model is presented. By using the iterative algorithm to solve the model, the whole set of non-inferior solutions for two objectives and the relevant reservoir’s non-inferior operation policies can be obtained. This model is capable to deal with the sellman’s "curse of dimensionality" encountered in the multiobjective programming. The case study shows that the model is convenient to deal with the contradiction between power generation and sedimentation in reservoir and the iterative algorithm is efficient for solving such problems.
