AFRICAN AMERICAN HEALTH DISPARI-TIES: GLAUCOMA AS A CASE STUDY

摘要

For over 300 years, African Americans have been shown to have the worst health statistics of all ethnic groups in the United States. In the year 2001, about 91,000 more blacks died than whites from mostly preventable causes. In addition, despite the fact that blacks suffer disproportionately from diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, studies have shown that the medical management can sometimes be different and inadequate. The global estimate of glaucoma is about 73 million with an incidence of 2.
