Preface to Special Issue: Recent Advances in Additive Manufacturing of Metals and Alloys

摘要

Metal and alloy component fabrication utilizing various forms of additive or layer manufacturing has become the new manufacturing paradigm worldwide. Over the past decade, the development, installation and application of various forms of metal and alloy additive manufacturing (AM) processes have increased exponentially, led in large part by laser and electron beam powder-bed melt technologies. Along with this global proliferation of new manufacturing strategies has been the corresponding proliferation of journals and books describing various aspects of additive manufacturing and 3D printing.
