This algorithm focuses on the DS - UWB physical layer, modifies the original optimization exclusion region calculation method and gives a better description of the process of CT - MAC. Furthermore, the modified CT - MAC protocol and IEEE 802. 11 DCF protocol are compared by system performance analysis when they are applied to the same high-rate UWB system. Simulation results indicate that the exclusion region in CT - MAC protocol will reduce with the increasing bandwidth. Smaller exclusion region will ensure more concurrent transmissions. As a result, the CT - MAC protocol is more suitable for DS - UWB communication system if compared to the IEEE 802. 11 DCF protocol.
