Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring technology can record different types of nerve potentials, keep a real-time monitoring of the specific parts of nerve functions, give early warning of nerve injury during the operation, and further reduce the risk of iatrogenic neurological injury. Common neurophysiological monitoring technologies applied in scoliosis surgery include somatosensory evoked potential monitoring, motor evoked potential monitoring, free-run electromyography monitoring and Train of Four Twitch test, while multimodal monitoring of multiple technologies is playing a more important role. In this article, applications of different techniques in the scoliosis surgery are reviewed.
