%This experiment was conducted to study the effects of L. salivarius from pigs on growth perform-ance, the number of faecal microflora and serum indices of growing pigs. Eighty-one crossbred ( Landrace × Large White) growing pigs with an average body weight of (35. 22 ± 0. 86) kg were divided into 3 groups with 3 replicates per group and 9 pigs per replicate. Pigs in control group were fed a basal diet and those in ex-perimental groups were fed experimental diets supplemented with 0 . 2% and 0 . 4% ( viable bacteria counts were 7. 0 × 106 and 1. 4 × 107 CFU per gram of diets, respectively) lyophilized preparation of L. salivarius from pigs, respectively. The experiment lasted for 30 days. The results showed as follows:1) compared with the control group, the average daily feed intake ( ADFI) and feed/gain ( F/G) of growing pigs in the experi-mental groups had no significant changes ( P >0 . 05 ) , and the average daily gain ( ADG ) had increasing trends ( P>0 . 05 );2 ) the supplementation of L. salivarius at 0 . 2% and 0 . 4% could significantly increase the number of Lactobacilli (P<0. 05), significantly reduce the number of E. coli (P<0. 05), and signifi-cantly increase the ratio of Lactobacilli to E. coli in the faeces (P <0. 05); 3) compared with the control group, the activities of alanine transferase ( ALT ) and aspartate transferase ( AST ) and the content of total cholesterol (TCHO) in serum in the experimental groups were significantly decreased (P<0. 05); 4) com-pared with the control group, the content of haptoglobin ( Hp) in serum in the experimental groups was signifi-cantly decreased ( P<0 . 05 ) . The results indicate that the supplementation of L. salivarius from pigs can im-prove the environment of intestinal microflora and the indices of serum, increase the immunity of body, and then advance the growth of growing pigs.
