THE TEACHING OF READING ENGLISH FOR ACADEMICPURPOSES IN CHINA: PROBLEMS AND SUGGESTIONS

An analysis of the problems Chinese universities face when they try to develop reading courses for English for Academic Purposes. Two contrastive ideas about EAP are discussed, and some suggestions on preparing EAP materials and training teachers on their use are put forward.
