China's Largest Gas Field Put into Production

@@ China's largest natural gas field - Kela-2 Gas Field - was put into production on December 1,2004. As the supply source of the West-East pipeline, Kela-2 Gas Field provides natural gas for cities, towns, enterprises and residents along the 4000-kilomter pipeline. Located on the northern periphery of Tarim Basin in Xinjiang Autonomous Region, the gas field is 19 kilometers long and three kilometers wide with a gas-bearing area of 47 kilometers. The thickness of the gas layers is 500 meters at maximum.
