湖北随州市擂鼓墩墓群的勘查与试掘

摘要

Surveys and trial excavations of Leigudun tombs in the western suburb of Suizhou City in 1997 brought to light that these tombs are distributed on hills, in the Tuanpo, Wujiawan, Leigudun, Miao'aopo, Wangjiabang, Caijiabao and Wangjiabao cemeteries, with two large-mounded tombs revealed at Wangjiabao and Caijiabao respectively. Besides, Daxi and Western Zhou cultural remains and Eastern Han brick-chambered graves were found in these cemeteries. The findings of the trial excavations and previous explorations suggest that the main part of the Leigudun tombs is Eastern Zhou burials and can be divided into two categories: earthen-mounded large-sized tombs and mound-less small ones. The former might have belonged to the rulers of the Zeng State. The later date from the late Warring States period and can be assigned to Zeng people surviving the destruction of the Zeng State.
