A new resonance light scattering ( RLS) method is used for the determination of α-naphthol in rnurine. In weak alkali medium,a-NAP was oxidized by diacetyl to fonn a-naphthoquinone,which formed a rnfluorescence compound with creatine. Then the fluorescence compound reactsed with CTMAB to form ionic rncomplexes. The intensity of RLS at λmax 580 nm was in proportion of α-NAP concentration in the range of rn1. 44 × 10 -9 ~2. 00 × 10-7 mol/L. The linear regression equation was △I = 186. 9c ( × 10-s mol/L) +rn84. 89 with a correlation coefficient of 0. 9991 , and the limit of detection was 4. 31 × 10-mol/L. The rnmethod had been applied for the determination of α-NAP in urine.
