The excellent properties on morphology, biology, physics and synthetic controllability make it a natural choice for application in biomedical devices field. Introducing the research progress for which bacterial cellulose is currently being used as surgical dressing, artificial skin,repair materials of tissue engineering and dietary supplements. In addition,the improvement of properties on biodegradability,biocompatibility and fiber orientation is forecasted.
