Morphology and biology of Carabus formosus nili in every stage were described in Shaanxi province. It had two generations per year and overwintered in adult stage in soil in Yangling,Shaanxi. The adults occurred from early May to late October, oviposited from late May to late June and from late August to late September respectively. The egg stage lasted for 7-9 days; the larval stage had two instars, the first instar lasted for 4-6 days, the second instar for 14-18 days; the prepupal stage lasted for 16-19 days; the pupal stage lasted for 7-10 days.
