This study was conducted to determine if there was a difference in knowledge of home enteral nutrition (HEN) practices as well as self-efficacy between nurses, physicians, and dietitians. Additionally, the knowledge of facility-specific policy and procedures related to the education of patients receiving HEN was examined. A survey was developed and distributed to medical professionals to examine knowledge and self-efficacy. A statistically significant difference in knowledge and self-efficacy was found between the disciplines. Dietitians had the greatest mean knowledge score, and there was a significant difference in knowledge between dietitians and physicians as well as between dietitians and nurses. Nurses had the highest mean self-efficacy score, and there was a significant difference in self-efficacy between nurses and physicians. Dietitians had the highest percentage of correct responses for all policy and procedure questions. Results from this study indicate additional education pertaining to HEN would benefit the participants of this study.
