This study focuses on teacher objectification as a fundamental negation of a student's dignity and could compromise their process of achieving autonomy. Because no measures of objectification in education currently exist, a conceptual model of objectification was proposed and the hypothesis was tested. Data were collected using an online software. A quantitative methodology, primarily factor analysis, was used to validate a theory of teacher objectification of high school students. Analyses of results were utilized to create a pilot instrument as a measure of objectification. The findings indicate a correlation between teacher responses and three of the seven proposed factors of objectification. Future research should focus on further development of a valid and reliable instrument to measure teacher objectification of students at the high school level.
