摘要

The purpose of this study is to investigate the Persian verbal system based on the generative theory of Chomsky and Harris. Although Persian, as we know it today, has been studied for hundreds of years, scholars have yet to produce verb classifications that are both accurate and scientifically reliable. An analysis of the existing works revealed about 2000 "simple verbs" which contained many mistakes and repetitious forms based on different stems. Once screened, this initial data was reduced to a list of 240 separate verbs, included in the volume.;Written in French, the publication is 285 pages in length, and divided into three sections. In Section I, the morphological structure of the language and distributional aspects of Persian verbs are analyzed. The definition of the "Simple Verb" versus "Noun-Phrase Verb" is established. The unmarked morpheme of present tense is revealed as the only verb stem and causative forms never treated before in their functional and non-functional aspects are identified. Similarly, a systematic study of the verbal affixes led to generate transformational rules, the rules for permutation, negation, and phonological transformation.;Section II includes an examination of the basic structure of transformation, the rules of verb groups, verb phrases and sentence structure. In addition, the syntactic structures of nouns, verbs and prepositions, auxiliaries, affixes and the modal verbs are studied. At the end of this Section, a table of modal verbs and the transformational rules of phrase structure are developed and provided.;Finally, in Section III, criterion for the classification of verbs are established.
