The generation of face-hobbed gears is based on continuous indexing, the tooth depth is uniform and the gear tooth surfaces are generated by straight-edged or curved blades.; The contents of the performed research cover the following topics: (i) design of pinion-gear blanks; (ii) methods for generation and geometry of gear tooth surfaces and (iii) simulation of meshing and contact of gears.; The developed algorithms for blank design provide direct relations between the pitch angles and spiral angle for hypoid gears. The developed gear geometry covers the mathematical decription in two-parametric form of gear tooth surfaces that are generated: (i) by straight or curved blades (in case of generation of the member-gear), or (ii) as an envelope of a family surfaces (in case of pinion generation).; The developed methods for simulation of meshing and contact of gears allow to investigate the interaction of tooth surfaces for misaligned gears, determine the gear transmission errors, and the bearing contact of gear tooth surfaces. The bearing contact is represented as a set of instantaneous contact ellipses whose dimensions and orientation depends on the principal curvatures and directions of interacting surfaces.
