摘要

Ultrasonic welding is one of the most efficient methods of joining plastics. This study investigated the effects of process parameters (weld time, hold time, pressure, amplitude, and the down speed) on the weld strength of the part. ABS, PMMA, and polycarbonate resins were used for this study. The experiments were designed on a factorial scheme, and the results analyzed statistically for meaning.;The responses measured were tensile strength at peak, and the maximum fiber stress in flexure at 5% strain or at break of the single lap joint. The main effects that affected both tensile strength and flexural strength were the parameters that contribute to power input: weld time, amplitude, pressure, and down speed. An improvement in the tensile strength and the flexural strength of the joint was possible due to the analyses.
