The leisure interests of the Waterford residents.

This research was a case study undertaken to describe the leisure patterns of the residents of Waterford (a private organization that specializes in housing, food and personal services to the retired) and to examine how age cohort and gender related to leisure interest.;The ANOVA test results indicated that, in general, the respondents' leisure interest did not differ significantly by age cohort and gender. This finding was likely due to the fact that the respondents shared many common demographic and social characteristics as well as a common living environment. (Abstract shortened by UMI.);The leisure interests of the respondents were found to be home-centered, family-oriented, physically non-demanding, and less active in nature. These patterns were consistent with the literature, and were probably due to the advanced age of the respondents. Also, the correlational analysis results indicated that the respondents' interests in non-sport outdoor activities, public entertainment, and outdoor sports activities declined with age.
