Empirical study of personal support structures of female domestic violence victims.

摘要

The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of Personal Support Structures on the female domestic violence victim. The participants for this study were derived from three shelters in the Los Angeles County area. Seventy-nine women participated in the research by completing the questionnaire developed by the researcher.;Although there were no statistically significant differences between responses of in-shelter and outreach participants, the data suggested that women in domestic violence relationships benefit positively from emotional support including, encouragement, availability, honesty, and love. These components also were preferred over physical components of support such and food and shelter or advice.
