Parents as interventionists: Improving math computation fluency in the home setting.

Extensive research has confirmed the positive impact of parents' involvement in the education of their children. However, it is less clear what specific forms of parent involvement are then most beneficial for student outcomes. Additionally, while parent-implemented reading interventions in the home setting have empirical support, research is needed to establish how parents can support mathematics skills for students. The present study attempted to determine (a) whether home-based math intervention improves students' computation fluency, and (b) the extent to which parents implement the intervention with fidelity, as well as the level of support required for them to do so. Implications and directions for future research are discussed.
