A content analysis of programs and introductory level college courses in Kentucky was conducted in order to create service-learning models for the post-secondary level. A rationale was discussed that justifies the use of service-learning as a means of promoting the habits of heart and mind in college students. The study examined the development of the term "habits of heart and mind" and the use of service throughout the history of American schools. Twelve models were created based on the course objectives used in introductory level college courses in four different fields: biological science, chemistry, math, and humanities. Twelve models were created for the following courses: Introduction to Biology, Botany, Human Anatomy, Introduction to Chemistry, General Chemistry, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, Algebra, Calculus, Statistics, American History Since 1877, World History, and Introduction to Philosophy. Means of dissemination and evaluation of the models were discussed.
