Internet usage in Korea: A survey of public relations practitioners.

This study researches the Internet usage among public relations practitioners in Korea. The sample includes 1,200 members of Korea PR organization. A web-based survey was used for the research with a response rate of 12.58%. The six concepts will be surveyed are (1) impact, (2) expertise, (3) corporate web site, (4) uses, (5) strengths, and (6) issues. Results show that the impact of the Internet on public relations has been reasonably strong and positive in Korea and the Internet has fostered two-way communication and improved the status quo of corporate public relations. Most Korean Public Relations practitioners have at least three years of Internet experience and access the Internet from work and home. Most companies have corporate web sites, and in a majority of cases public relations is involved in maintaining these sites. Most practitioners ranked "email in company" highest for Internet use, "Accessibility" as greatest Internet strength, and "Integration in communication strategy" as most important Internet issue.
