The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of an Internet-based pilot program for healthcare professionals pursuing continuing education units. The study reviewed the literature that examines the evolution of continuing education programs and the history of the Internet as an educational environment. The researcher conducted a study to assess the effectiveness of Internet-based learning by analyzing the differences in Marriage Family Therapists (MFT) test scores of two groups pursuing continuing education units. The sample for this research consisted of two treatment groups each of 25 MFTs required to complete their continuing education units by January 31, 2003. The results indicated that the test scores for the two groups are similar.
