North American evangelical perceptions of Africans in colonial Northern Nigeria, 1890 -- 1939.

This thesis is an attempt to outline how North American evangelicals, particularly those associated with the Sudan Interior Mission, perceived and portrayed Africans from Northern Nigeria between 1890-1939. S.I.M. depictions of African Muslims, traditionalist communities, and convert Christian populations are thoroughly analyzed, with a focus on the relevant narratives constructed around these subjects.
