Computational fluid dynamic solver (Fluent) coupling with Shape Optimizer packages is used as a design tool for aerodynamic shape optimization. The CFD solver (Fluent) is used for subsonic incompressible viscous flow. The optimization package contains multiple algorithms for direct search method optimization such as Simplex, Compass, and Torczon. The tool is used to obtain maximum lift to drag ratio in take-off and landing flight conditions.;The work is divided into two parts: Geometry Modeling System and Optimizer Modeling System. This work is concerned with the second part (i.e., Optimizer Modeling System). The objective function in this Optimization System is generated by C++ programming language and compiled on Fluent by the User Defined Function (UDF). Optimization system was applied different strategies: different algorithms, different control point locations and different number of control points. All these strategies were successful to achieve the goal, to increase the lift to drag ratio with all angle of attack for 2D and 3D models.;This work studies an optimization tool for a multi-element airfoil which utilizes the power of CFD solver of a Shape Optimizer package to find the most optimal shape of multi-element airfoil as per designer's requirement. The optimization system coupled with Fluent will increase the utilization and the importance of CFD solver.
