To produce high quality parts it is necessary to implement techniques to control the part accuracy, the chip evacuation, the tool wear, the burr formation and the deburring finishing processes.;The main purpose of this research is to understand the conditions under which the machining burrs are formed. To go so, a study based on a full factorial experimental design was conducted. The factors tested consisted of the machining parameters, the cutting tools and the workpiece materials. 162 trials were performed for this study.;The influence of various machining parameters on each type of burr has been determined. A particular attention was paid for the influences of the workpiece material (type, properties and conditions), the tool geometry and / or coating, and cutting conditions especially the cutting speed on the burrs geometrical distinctions (maximum height, shape and location). Technological solutions based on deburring, surface finishing, chip control and tool wear were adopted to solve some parts finishing problems.;The knowledge acquired in the laboratory was used to analyze the burrs and part finishing problems faced by local industry (Pratt & Whitney Canada).;Minimizing, locating, standardizing, predicting or eliminating burrs generated during machining operations of mechanical parts requires understanding of the mechanisms of their formation, their various characteristics and factors governing their generation.;Keywords: Aluminum alloy, burr formation, part finishing, high-speed machining, tool coating.
