Clinicians' perceptions of the effectiveness of mental health services in alternative education settings.

摘要

The purpose of this study was to explore the perceptions of clinical service providers regarding the effectiveness of mental health services provided in alternative education middle schools and high schools. This was a qualitative study that required participants to take part in face-to-face interviews with the researcher and respond to questions from an interview guide. The sample consisted of 13 participants who were all clinicians employed through an educational organization.; This study's findings suggest that mental health services in alternative education make a positive impact on clients providing for greater academic performance, increased self-esteem, and increased coping ability. Based upon the perceptions of the respondents, individual therapy and case management are the most commonly used mental health services in alternative education. Mental health professionals recognize the need and importance of their role in providing support to clients, and feel valued by clients' families, administrators, support staff, and educators.
