The role of survivor in Tabori's Cannibals, or you are what you eat.

This project report examines the role of Hirschler in the play The Cannibals by George Tabori. The play was produced by the California Repertory Company of California State University, Long Beach, and performed at the Edison Theatre on 15 September-7 October 2006.;This paper explores the validity of ancestral experience and a collective unconscious as important and viable components in developing the role of Hirschler. It is my belief that each can inform and enrich the actor's process, thereby leading to an emotional and visceral experience for the actor.;Chapter 1 introduces supportive acting theory utilizing (1) Constantin Stanislavski and Stella Adler's approaches, (2) scientific research with regard to theories on deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and genetics, (3) the psychological theory of Carl Jung, and (4) the philosophy of Joseph Campbell. Chapter 2 encompasses a detailed breakdown of my personal artistic process.
