《海洋与文明：世界海洋史》一至八章翻译报告

摘要

本文是一篇翻译报告。翻译项目原文选自《海洋与文明：世界海洋史》（The Sea and Civilization—a maritime history of the world）一书。该书由美国纽约阿尔弗雷德·A·克诺夫（Alfred A.Knopf）出版社在2013年出版发行，是一部融文学性、史料性和学术性为一体的文明史专著，其作者是美国学者林肯·潘恩。本报告选取其中的一至八章作为翻译材料，主要研究大洋洲、埃及、腓尼基、迦太基、罗马、希腊、印度、以及中国的航海文明史进程，并以海洋区域为分界，以船只、航海技术、海洋文化、海洋心理、海洋思维、海洋战争等为切入点，完整系统的描述了区域内不同国家和民族的海洋生活。
　　该文本的翻译，能较系统地向国内译介国外的海洋文学、文化与历史研究成果，为国内海洋文学和海洋文化研究提供系统的参考模式，为研究世界海洋文化史提供丰富的资料，同时也将改变我们对海洋的看法。
　　本篇翻译报告共分为四个部分。第一部分为引言，简单介绍了该翻译项目选题与研究的意义，第二部分为翻译的过程描述，主要探讨项目翻译所做的材料以及理论上的准备，第三部分为翻译中的难点以及翻译过程中所使用的技巧，第四部分为翻译实践的总结,并简单介绍了翻译理论在翻译实践中的指导作用。在翻译的过程中，译者选取奈达的功能对等理论为指导，结合文本的语言特色和文本风格，力求准确流畅的翻译出文本的文化内涵。其中的难点为原文地名、人名、引语的翻译以及船舶及航海专业术语的翻译。
