英语新闻报道语篇的连贯问题研究——韩礼德模式

摘要

本文以系统功能语言学家韩礼德的连贯理论为理论框架，以英语新闻报道语篇为例，对其语篇的连贯特征从衔接和语境两个方面作了一次全面的分析。 论文的理论基础主要是韩礼德的语篇连贯理论，即连贯的语篇必须体现两方面：一是情景语境的一致性，即语域的一致性；二是衔接手段的一致性。语篇的连贯包括两者，缺少任何一个都不能组成连贯。 论文的主体部分采用了演绎法和归纳法以及语料库的研究方法对60例英语新闻报道语篇进行定量分析和定性分析。首先通过计算各种衔接手段在样本语篇中的出现频率，得出新闻报道语篇在衔接层次方面的连贯特征；然后从系统功能语言学的角度分析语境的三个变项，得出新闻语篇在语境层次方面的连贯特征。 数据分析显示，在衔接方面，词汇衔接在新闻报道中出现的频率最高，而语法衔接手段很少被用于这类语篇，这与新闻报道语篇具有语言简明、新鲜、客观的特点相一致，从而实现了衔接方面的连贯。在语境层次方面，在英语新闻报道中，及物系统主要由物质过程和口头过程来体现；这两个过程体现了新闻报道主要的目的在于向公众提供信息并且十分注重信息的真实性，实现了语篇连贯在语场方面的一致。英语新闻报道中陈述语气是其最主要的语气类型，多使用过去时态来报道已发生的事件，有时使用现在时态，将来时很少出现；这些特点与新闻报道主要向人们陈述已经发生的事件这一属性相一致，实现了新闻语篇在语旨方面的一致。英语新闻报道主谓系统上多使用简单主谓，无标记主谓多于有标记主谓，这与新闻语篇提供信息的主要目的相一致，实现了语篇连贯在语式方面的一致。
