语境理论在英语听力理解中的应用

摘要

本文试图探讨语境理论在大学英语中的应用，试图说明语境理论与大学英语听力的关系，从而试图证明运用语境理论应用在大学英语听力中是一种有效的提高听力的策略。 一般来讲，任何一个词语的意思都不是凭空臆造的，而是在一定的语境下，根据自身听力材料，和听者的理解形成的。本文从情景语境和文化语境的角度，对听力材料进行了全面的对比分析和质性研究，旨在帮助英语听力学习者增强语境意识，进一步提高英语听力能力。 本文的重点在于削明语境理论的发展及其在英语听力中的应用，尤其是情景语境，文化语境是影响英语听力理解的两大最重要的因素。 通过对听力材料的分析，教育者可以肯定的得出这样一个结论:语境理论尤其是认知语境的理论对听力材料的理解有着至关重要的作用。 在传统的教学方法中，教育者不考虑语境知识，机械教学，特别在大学英语听力教学中，基础不好的学生往往只能听出部分信息，没有语境意识，这样就导致了对整编听力文本失去信心。实际上，如果把情景语境，文化语境考虑进去，进可以猜测出着片听力文章的大部分信息和文章丰题，从而会培养出语境意识和自信心，大大提高大学英语的听力成绩。 本论文的结果，可以归纳为以下三个方面。 首先，我们为听力过程设计了一个新的理论框架。当听众在一定的社会环境中聆听材料和识别出收听材料的语音特点时，他能预测出语篇的情景语境和文化语境。然后，听者总结出所有的语境特征和他所听到的语音特征，并能推测出能够实现不同意义的语法和词汇特征，这些不同类型的意义由情景语境和文化语境决定。 其次，我们发现了在听力理解过程的重要因素。首先是对语音特征识别，并且把他们和词汇语法特征联系起来。二是情景语境为交际过程提供了环境。第三是文化背景为整个语言提供了环境。 第三，我们发现文本和语境之间的相瓦预测理论也可以被应用于听力理解过程中，虽然大部分被无意识地应用。只有当学生可以利用文本中所有的必要特征，包括语音，词汇语法，情景和文化特征，他才能有效地预测和发现文本的意义。
