简·奥斯丁作品连贯自然性研究——基于语料库的显性连贯与隐性连贯分析

摘要

自从Halliday和Hasan合著的《英语中的街接》一书出版以来，连贯一直是篇章语言学研究核心与重点之一。在理论研究上，针对“连贯自然性”的理论探讨尚属于空白领域，亟需深入研究。在研究方法上，先前的连贯研究多以定性研究为主，然而近年来，研究热点逐渐转移到基于语料库的定量研究上。在研究内容上，文学作品是连贯研究的一个重要方面，但是基于语料库的简·奥斯丁作品相关实证研究为数尚少。鉴于对连贯研究现状从理论，方法与内容上的简单概述，本文从基于语料库的视角分析显性连贯与隐形连贯的运用，尝试性地研究简·奥斯丁作品中的连贯自然性。
　　 在系统功能语言学为理论指导下，本文将韩礼德的衔接理论与张德禄的衔接框架结合自建研究框架。笔者使用Readability Analyzer1.0与AntConc3.2.4语料库工具，通过两组自建语料库的对比（语料库NA与语料库Austen2相比，语料库Austen1与语料库18-19相比），对简·奥斯丁六部小说进行定量和定性研究。笔者通过研究简·奥斯丁六部小说中显性连贯与隐性连贯的具体运用，从基于语料库的视角验证本论文的前提假设:与18-19世纪同时期的其他作者相比，简·奥斯丁在连贯使用上更加娴熟自然。
　　 研究发现:简·奥斯丁作品的连贯自然性主要表现在显性与隐性连贯运用的如下两个方面:
　　 1)显性连贯的使用主要表现在词汇密度，关键词与多元序列三个方面。在词汇密度方面:与同时期其他作家相比，简·奥斯丁作品中词汇使用的丰富程度更高，而《诺桑觉寺》的词汇使用丰富程度最高。在关键词方面:与同时期其他作家相比，简·奥斯丁作品中更多地使用了篇章指称与重复。在多元序列方面:简·奥斯丁更善于使用习语作为连接标记创造篇章的显性连贯，这一点在她的同期作家中较少发现。
　　 2)隐性连贯的使用主要表现在个案研究《诺桑觉寺》中的地点语域和文本语域关键词的功能上。笔者发现，简·奥斯丁更善于使用背景省略、情景指称、类型指称以及互文性指称以达到篇章的隐性连贯。
　　 研究结果对外语教学有一定的启示作用并为将来类似领域的研究指出方向。
　　 本文共分六章。第一章引言简要介绍研究背景、研究目的、研究意义以及论文框架。第二章回顾国内外连贯研究以及基于语料库的简·奥斯丁作品研究状况。第三章介绍理论框架和一些基本概念。第四章为研究方法，阐述前提假设、三个研究问题、语料库构建以及研究工具。第五章是基于语料库的简·奥斯丁作品中显性和隐性连贯运用的分析和讨论。第六章对论文主要发现进行总结，指出本研究的不足之处，并对未来后续研究提出建议。
