倾听钟声——解读艾丽丝·默多克小说《钟》

摘要

艾丽丝·默多克是英国当代著名的女作家、哲学家，一生共创作26部小说。《钟》是她的第四部小说，发表于1958年并大获成功。小说围绕一个旧钟和一个新钟，讲述了一个宗教团体的故事。通过故事中主人公的生活和爱情，默多克向读者展示了自我认识、自由、爱情和艺术之路的艰难和美好。本文结合默多克“善”的理念对小说中的钟和人物关系和探寻历程进行分析，探究默多克小说中传递的信息：自我认识不能太浪漫，不能依靠宗教，应该面对现实；要获得精神上的自由需要在自我认识的基础上，进一步摆脱他人和社会的枷锁；爱是善之本，拥有自由的人才能拥有真正的爱；艺术是善的抽象表现，好的艺术可以给人善的启发。
