《剑桥英语史》第三卷(5.5章节)汉译实践报告

摘要

语言是随着人类社会的发展而发展的，一些旧词的过时意味着一些新词的产生，而新词的产生还遵循一定的规律—构词法，因此构词法在一定程度上推动着英语历史的发展，并起着重要的作用，这也是本翻译实践报告的意义所在。本报告基于《剑桥英语史》第三卷第五章第五节的翻译实践。《剑桥英语史》共有六卷，笔者选取的第三卷主要介绍了早期现代英语（约1450年1700年）和现代英语（约1700年至1900年）的发展历史，其时间覆盖了从1476年至美国发表独立宣言的1776年，其中笔者所翻译的第五章第五节内容属于英语史中的词汇部分，主要针对词汇的构词法。 本次翻译任务属于学术性文章，语言严谨，具有很强的专业性，原文中包含很多词汇学上的语言学术语和专有词汇。为了用通顺、流畅的语言准确传达原文信息，使译文读者对早期现代英语词汇的构词法有全面、准确的了解，笔者在翻译前阅读了大量词汇学和英语史方面的书，掌握了大量构词法方面的知识，然后以彼得·纽马克的语义翻译与交际翻译理论为指导，再结合一些英汉翻译方法包括省译、照应等，开展此次翻译实践。笔者在翻译中适当补充了一些相关学术性知识以帮助读者更好的理解，希望本实践报告，既可供相关领域学者、学生研究学习使用，也可为对英语史感兴趣的读者提供参照资料。
