The management and maintenance of the tunnels currently in service require thernapplication of techniques for the inspection of linings and facilities, using high performancernsystems. Besides, many of the contracts of maintenance of the infrastructures, includingrnthose of tunnels, are managed through contracts of service quality indicators. In order tornassess the different indicators of the state of the tunnels, it is necessary to have objectiverninspection tools (not only visual inspection performed by surveyors) to measure thernevolution of deterioration.rnThe paper presents different automated techniques, some of them already fullyrnimplemented in the infrastructure maintenance market, such as the Lidar, and some ofrnthem which are brand new and make it possible to complete the information for therninspection of deterioration in all kinds of lining. We will see how the results obtained inrndifferent tunnels through to visual inspections performed by specialist surveyors can berncompleted with the information obtained through state-of-the-art techniques mainly basedrnon imaging and laser.rnThe automated inspection offers a better knowledge of the state of the tunnel and avoidsrnsubjectivity problems associated to traditional inspection. This paper will show how theserntechniques may function as a basis for accepting new tunnels and uploading all the digitalrninformation to the database for its later exploitation with BIM-type systems (BuildingrnInformation Modeling systems).
