Visual Ontology Modeling Tool and Ontology Based Querying of Semantic Web Resources

The Semantic Web provides the foundation for semantic architecture to support the transparent exchange of information and knowledge among collaborating e-business organizations. Recent advances in the Semantic Web technologies offer means for organizations to exchange knowledge in a meaningful way. In spite of these developments, major challenges remain for developers of the Semantic Web applications, such as ontology modeling, and ontology based information retrieval. In this paper, a visual ontology modeling tool called VOEditor and an architecture based on the tool aimed at addressing these issues are presented. An easy to use the visual ontology modeling tool is deployed, providing a convenient mechanism for ontology engineers to create and edit their ontologies in a graphical mode. Search and coordination activities are carried out by a system of multiagent designed for such environments. Finally, the tool and the architecture are demonstrated in the Tourism Recommendation System which is based on a tourism domain ontology created by the VOEditor.
