The Informationalization of Small and Medium-size Business Based on the ASP Platform

Application Server Provider first comes on scene in late 1990s.Application Server Provider, abbreviated as ASP, is a third-party entity that manages and distributes software-based services and solutions to customers across a wide area network from a central data center. ASP is a completely new way to sell and distribute software and software services. The ASP model can be extremely appealing to businesses - especially small and medium-size businesses and startups -- because it can drastically lower the costs of software and services. In this paper, the authors first explain the inevitable reason why ASP platform is best fit for the small and medium-size businesses. Then the authors describe the features of ASP and the principles to build an ASP platform. The authors also picture the basic platform of ASP. Then, the authors analyze the typical services that an ASP platform should provide for the businesses. Based on the analysis, the authors finally build a special platform of ASP for small and medium-size businesses.
