In this paper, we propose the enhanced receiver architecture for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems over multipath fading channels. The receiver structure is based on per-antenna rate control (PARC) system that consists of the minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) and successive interference cancellation (SIC). Notice that the error propagation is the major disadvantage in the interference cancellation process. To mitigate the error propagation effect, we consider an additional error verification process using maximum likelihood (ML) criterion during the interference cancellation process especially for the dominant pass. In the error verification process, the reliability of the estimated symbols is checked and corrected. Simulation results demonstrate the proposed receiver employing error verification process outperforms the zero-forcing (ZF), MMSE and MMSE-SIC receivers without substantial computational complexity. Furthermore, the proposed receiver can be a good candidate for low complexity applications.
