The present invention encompasses a method and system for minimizing bit error rate (BER) of multi-input multi output (MIMO) fading channels with channel state information at the transmitter (feedback). The invention encompasses a method for communicating signals between a first communication device and a second communication device where CSIT is available and the channel is narrow-band with quasi-static flat fading, comprising of Nt transmit antennas and Nr receive antennas and wherein the input data stream (after error-correction code) is divided into 1 I min(Nt,Nr) data streams, comprising the steps of: modulating each of the I data streams at any given epoch to a signal from signal set(s); precoding the vector of I signals by a matrix, or interleaved or processed so as to obtain I coded signals such that the coded signals satisfy some property defined on all or a subset of the coded signals; performing linear transmit processing on the I coded signals to obtain Nt transmit signals to be transmitted over the Nt antennas for any given epoch (the operation of d., e. can be combined); receiving the Nt transmit signals by Nr receive antennas; performing linear receive processing on the Nr receive signals to obtain I processed signals; and demodulating (soft/hard) the I processed signals to generate I data streams and system which comprises means for the same.
