Transport, an enabler in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

Transport integrates social, environmental and economic development dimensions. Thispaper discusses transport as a critical component to a sustainable development that willdrive the goal eleven (11) (Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilientand sustainable) of the United Nations sustainable development goals based on SouthAfrican perspective towards 2030. The paper highlights South African transport policies,the transport programmes and projects undertaken by the Government of South Africa thatwill help South Africa to achieve the objectives set out in the United Nations DevelopmentGoals for 2030.
