Polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) membranes based on very thin film of crosslinkedfluorinated-polymers have been fabricated by radiation-grafting with reactive styrenemonomers using electron beam irradiation under nitrogen atmosphere at room temperature.The characteristic properties of obtained materials have been measured by differentialscanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis and FT-IR spectroscopy, and so on. Theglass transition temperatures and thermal decomposition temperatures of grafted materialsstrongly depend on the yields of styrene grafting onto base fluorinated-polymers, which have3D-structure. The higher yields of grafting give lower thermal stability. The ion exchangecapacity of sulfonated-materials has been achieved 3.0meq/g. The other properties ofobtained membranes, such as chemical structure, rates of hydrogen gas transmission, havebeen discussed.
