MODIFICATION OF ALUMINIUM-SILICON EUTECTIC ALLOY WITH STRONTIUM

摘要

Investigation on modification of aluminium-silicon eutectic alloy with strontium has been carried out in this study. The strontium must be added to the alloy according to certain precise criteria so that complete dissolution of the strontium has been performed. Otherwise, structural modification of the alloy would not be carried out effectively. The evaluation of modification has been done metallographically. The various conditions have been established affecting strontium modification with particular regard to any effect on the microstructure and hence the properties of the alloy.
