This paper introduces fatigue failure patterns and presents the latest fatigue strength analyses methods of a harmonic drive device. Several new mechanics models and the responsive finite element methods are presented in this paper to do bending strength and contact strength analyses of the flexspline and bearing load distribution and contact strength analyses of the flexible bearing through more than 15 years of research of the first author. Three-dimensional, tooth load distribution, loaded tooth contact pattern, tooth contact stress, flexible bearing load distribution are successfully calculated. Many experimental results and practical design experiences of the authors show that the calculation results obtained by this paper are reasonable.
