The purpose of this paper is to present a few thoughts are explored concerning raw-material supply for the detergent industry, more specifically about raw-material supply in some of the world's emerging markets and the factors needed to develop supply to support growth in these areas. As might be expected, the perspective is from the vantage point of an integrated petrochemical producer, and the focus will be on feedstocks for the larger volume surfactants.
