ISAFE3: A new intrinsically safe AE sensor system

ISAFE3 stands for "intrinsically safe sensor system 3". ISAFE3 is currently under development in the frame of CORF AT, a European FW7 AE research project. Its target is to develop an AE monitoring system for surface transport means, such as ships (especially tankers) and tank cars for street and rail. ISAFE3 consists of sensor ISAS3 and signal isolator SISO3, interconnected over an up to 1 km long coaxial cable. ISAS3 will be available for different frequency ranges from 23 to 910 kHz. ISAS3 includes a preamplifier of gain 20 dB. ISAS3 will carry the following certification label: II1G Ex ia IIC T6 Ga, -20..+60℃, IP68. SISO3 can be used with any AE signal processor providing a preamplifier supply voltage of 28 Vdc@90 mA over a coaxial cable of 50 Q impedance. SISO3 is wideband and available with three gain settings for a total gain of 34,40 or 46 dB, including 20 dB of ISAS3. SISO3 will carry the following certification label:
