EVALUATION OF SAFETY FACTORS ON ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM

This paper investigates the safety factors and related parameters for establishing safetyregulations based on the international standard of adaptive cruise control (ACC) system. Thisstudy has been conducted under a national ITS project which develops test and evaluationtechnologies for advanced safety vehicle (ASV) in establishing safety standards and/orregulations funded by the Ministry of Construction and Transportation (MOCT). The safetyparameters presented in this study include the operational requirements with range of setspeed, time gap, warning time, etc. for ACC running safely in the highway. Findings fromthe field test according to the predefined test scenarios are analyzed in order to provide theoperational requirements on the national safety regulations for ACC system.
