This paper shows the relationship between total Probe car deployed and the area coverage forcollecting Probe data. We analyzed the relationship from the data of the field experiment inNagoya city. Based on this result, we estimated the expected area coverage by Taxi Probe-carin Tokyo metropolitan area. To realize expanding the area coverage by real-time Probe data,we considered whether database based on the stored Probe data could compensate forreal-time Probe data. It was found that database was effective in compensating for real-timeProbe data and predicting the average travel time.
